history
Some things aren't born, they quite simply begin to exist, step out of nothingness and become. They can be things like darkness, despair and death. Odile is one such thing.
Throughout generations, Odile has hovered in the sky above the women whom she found most enticing, because she takes only those who are most filled with life and beauty - and she drives them slowly insane, tears them apart from within by making them succumb to the feelings that she carries with her like an elongated shadow. Depression and anxiety. It is the fabric from which she is woven.
When she began and when she will end, no one knows, not even Odile herself. It might be different from person to person, woman to woman, how long they last and thus, how long Odile stays with them. Some women are more robust than others, they live through the turmoil for years, others give up and give in within months, but whatever the span, Odile is remarkably faithful and doesn't stray to the side of others. Her world narrows in time with the world of the woman on whom she has cast her affections.
They are hers. They are only hers.
And then, they die. The end is inevitable and the end is always the same. At some point or other, all things choose death.
personality
Odile is more than a person, she is an embodied concept and as such, certain aspects of her character are omnipotent and exist beyond the scope of her body. She is how depression would look, if it took a shape. She is the feelings of anxiety and despair. She is darkness.
As the individual that she also is, however, she showcases some defining traits. She is soft-spoken in the sense that she often talks in a whisper, you might imagine her murmuring soft lullabies in the ear of her chosen one or gently reciting poetry to this or that woman's pale skin, when she finds her alone in bed. She is arrogant, knowing full well the extend of her powers, what she is capable of calling forth in people, the ends she can drive them to. And she is loving, dedicating herself fully and wholly to the women whom she chooses out of the crowd. She approaches them like you would in ancient times approach an altar, with gifts and promises and an acknowledgement of the fact that they are more than their appearance, they are a direct link to the divine.
On the other hand, Odile is also a loud presence, she is insisting and demeaning and mean, threatening her chosen ones with physical pain and seclusion to get them to do as she wishes. As softly as she can whisper, just as loudly she can yell. She is alluring, tempting and enticing - to gain control, she can take the shape of anything which comforts or attracts the woman in question or she can conjure up thoughts or pleasing scenarios and things to coax her chosen one in any given direction. They are her prey and her plaything, Odile plays with her food like a cat. Finally, she is a patient being. She has waited for life to begin and for life to be snuffed out and never been disappointed, humans live and they die, some of them in her name and those beautiful individuals she finds it worth waiting for. After all, they were hers from the very beginning.
